Mike Fienen and Randy Hunt (USGS) and
Chris Muffels (UW-Madison and S.S. Papadopulos) are convening a session
at the 119th GSA Annual Meeting in Denver, Colorado: 28–31 October
2007.
The goal of this session is to provide an interface between the
academic development of inverse methods and uncertainty and their actual
use in practice. The session is titled T27. Inverse Methods in
Practice: Perspectives and Future Directions. Many forums focus on
esoteric techniques and development without a practical venue to further
their actual use in practice.
The growing body of PEST users is a major
factor in the implementation of inverse methods and uncertainty analysis
in practice, so we particularly invite presentations that make use of
PEST
on various problems.
We are enthusiastic about assembling a strong set of presentations.
Anchored by invited speakers including Jim Rumbaugh of ESI, Charlie
Andrews of S.S. Papadopulos, and Time Scheibe of PNL with Tim Ginn of UC
Davis, we hope to span practitioners in all areas ranging from academia
and government to regulators and consultants to provide their
perspectives.
Abstract submission opened April 1 and will remain open until July 10.
Submission must be made online at
www.geosociety.org
Thanks for your time, and we hope to see you in October!
Sincerely,
Mike Fienen (
